              DANCE  CHOREOGRAPHY    professional development workshop       

Goal:  to promote dance in our schools, through increasing the competency and confidence levels of teachers involved.

Target group:   interested teachers who wish to enhance their skills in the areas of dance choreography and movement skills in their students.

Applications: applications for inclusion in the course may be made by completing the form on the web-site.

NB: Teachers from schools participating in the festival are eligible to attend the workshops.

 

The course will cover the following areas of dance:

Choosing themes  -  selecting themes/ music/ characterisation/ costuming

Telling a story   -  effective use of characters and stories in dance

Building a dance  -  how to use a theme or element to create a dance

Movement into Choreography   - dance composition/ movement patterns/ transitions/ styles

Putting It All Together - workshop  -  composing a dance

There will be practical elements

                      

Cost of casual relief days for course participants will be covered by the Blue Mountains/Nepean Dance Festival.

There will be a limit of 20 participants in the course. A maximum of 2 teachers from the same school may apply.

Teachers who participated in previous year's workshop are welcome to apply this year.

Times and date:   Thursday 30th March at  8:30am (for a 9:00am start)  -  3:00pm 

 

What to bring:  note-book / wear comfortable clothing and foot-wear. There will be a (non-strenuous) practical component to the day.

Morning tea and lunch will be provided.

 

 Covid-safe practices

 The Blue Mountains/Nepean Dance Festival is committed to offering a COVID safe event in 2023.The festival committee works in conjunction with the Department of Education to ensure that the operation of this program is contingent on the covid-19 advice provided by the department in consultation with NSW Health.

Teachers are encouraged to remain up-to-date with the latest COVID-19 advice on the department intranet.
